The Forged Adventure of GTR Auto

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to drive an Audi R8 that makes everyone turn their heads? At GTR Auto, we did, and we decided it was time to find out. This is how our odyssey began to create the GF01 forged wheels in 20″ and 21″, a journey filled with mystery, drama, and, of course, a touch of madness.

It all started on a rainy afternoon in the winter of 2022, when lightning lit up our office as if we were in a scene straight out of a Hitchcock thriller.

We opened the windows to breathe in some fresh air. The air smelled of wet pavement and chimneys, a mix that conveyed calm and relaxation. The perfect moment to take the plunge and make history. The mission? To create GTR Auto’s first custom forged wheels for an Audi R8.

We wanted these forged wheels not only to stand out but to redefine what perfection means in the world of custom forged wheels.

Our challenge was not just to forge wheels but to design ones that screamed “GTR Auto” to the world. We wanted more than functionality; we wanted art. Every line, every curve, every detail had to reflect our brand identity and set the standard for all our future models.

We spent several days and nights turning over designs, with sketches ending up in the trash faster than an Audi R8 can accelerate. Frustration was our daily bread in those days.

We wanted something unique, something that would make people recognize our custom forged wheels at a glance. But every time we thought we had it, something didn’t fit. The perfect design seemed as elusive as a dream fading at dawn.

The pressure was mounting. Our Audi R8 V10 Plus was standing still, waiting for its new shoes. Each day without a finalized design was one day closer to failure. The tension in our house was palpable. It was then we decided it was time to do something radical: break all the rules.

I think it was on the sixth or seventh day of starting the project. One of our team members, mentally exhausted and frustrated, took a break and had a coffee while reading an issue of Car & Driver. There it was! That damn magazine had been in front of us all along with an article titled “Remastered Classics: Retro Wheels on Modern Rides”… it was exactly what we needed.

He returned to the office like a man possessed, with a spark in his eyes and a new design in mind. We all gathered around him as he traced lines and curves that, magically, came to life on paper. There it was: the perfect design. The GF01 custom forged wheels were born from a mix of retro art, modern design, and engineering precision.

The day we received the forged wheels from the factory was an incredibly exciting day, like being a child on Christmas Eve. You couldn’t sleep and wished for time to speed up so morning would come.

That was our state until we put the GF01 forged wheels on the Audi R8, and when the car rolled out of our garage, we all knew we had created something special. The wheels not only supported the speed and weight of the R8 but transformed it into a moving work of art. It was like watching a lion hunt: pure power and beauty.

Our goal with the GF01 is simple: we want every Audi R8 or any other car equipped with our custom forged wheels to be not just a beautiful car, but an object of worship. We want every furtive glance, every silent envy, and every open admiration to belong to you. Because, let’s be honest, we don’t make wheels to go unnoticed; we make wheels to leave a mark.
